He was always jumping up and down and marching and wailing about respect. How he needed to be respected. We all have a base level of respect that life affords us. We either build upon it or not.
When we first met, I respected him. As time went on, the decisions he made put his character into light. His irresponsibility and the disarray that every area in his life was in caused me to pause. I did not trust his judgement because his judgment had proven to be flawed, more often than not.
The devil is in the details.
The biggest issue with his brand of man was his brand of father. He had neglected one of his children and at the end of the day had failed miserably in honestly settling that account. He was unwilling to do what needed to be done to restore the trust, respect and honor and as a result, I could not trust him.
And on most days if his mouth is moving, he is either eating or lying.
When I looked at him, I saw his potential and I saw his reality and at the end of the day, the reality of who he is and what he is stood in our way and it will forever stand in his.
